Carabobo y Yaracuy

For this weekend, our destinations were two states united by zig-zag paths across mountains and rivers, with spectacular views and wonderful night weather …

A road trip with spectacular views in a diverse weather, perfect for a relaxing weekend in the company of good friends…

Thanks to the invitation of Jean-Pierre Herrera (Jeanpy), we parted towards the town of Salom in Yaracuy state.  We stayed on a farm dedicated to growing citrus crops, property of the Herrera Family.  There, Julia and “Dona Enri” (Jeanpy’s grandmother) showered us with attentions and the comfortable facilities made us want to repeat our experience there very soon.

Salóm, is a town near Nirgua in the Yaracuy State. This town was named after Army General Bartolomé Salóm, national hero of our Independence.  From here we began our exploration trip towards Carabobo. Through a road full of curves and deeps ups and downs, we got to Canoabo and got near the dam, which we could see as we started to descend the mountain.  As we watched the lagoon and the fisherman, we made a mental note to the next time come back with a boat. We continue our trip going up the mountain using a very amusing path that showed us more spectacular views of the dam and its dock.  After a while of driving in these beautiful mountains, we arrived to a small tributary of the Temerla River, which we easily cross to continue towards Yaracuy among the beautiful lagoons in the river and the green mountains filled with vegetation.

After several kilometers we arrived to Temerla Town, and we visited Plaza Bolivar and took pictures of the beautiful facade of its Church.  From here, we returned to the farm in Salom to enjoy a traditional barbecue and had a nice talk until late at night. This part of the Venezuelan geography is without doubt spectacular, its contrast and proximity to the big cities made of it an ideal destination for a relaxing weekend to get in contact with nature, without being bothered with the mosquitoes found in other parts, and where the mist refreshes the nights making it the ideal place to spend the night and forget the troubles back home…
